Four Seasons of My Life: A Poem by Soren

Four Seasons of My Life:
~ Soren

Spring is here.
The love flourishes throughout the house.
Warmth spreads like butter on toast.
The passion my parents share is a sprinkler; helping to grow something beautiful.
The ravishing red roses in our garden have reached their full magnificence.
What will the summer bring to my life?

Summer is here.
The disgruntled season has brutally thrown hot sticky air into my life.
Tempers are high like the temperature.
My parents are clouds; drifting farther and farther apart.
Our roses have been moved into a container in the kitchen for preservation.
I long for the fall.

Autumn is here.
Hostile winds cruelly chase all the love from our home.
The love is hidden deep inside a cold chasm, never to be found.
My parents avoid each other like cars about to crash.
The rose petals fall like the leaves falling outside our window.
 I dread the winter.

Winter is here.
The snow covering the house is like a white lie.
The rose petals are long gone from the stem, they mimic the leaves.
Angry voices attack each other spitefully.
I hear the door slam and sounds of my mother crying.
The year is over.
Where is dad?
